Authorities have begun testing a Maldivian who developed symptoms of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) after returning from abroad.
This is being done as a precautionary measure under the protocols being followed by authorities regarding the Covid-19 outbreak.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that the Maldivian recently returned from Europe and the Middle East.
The individual has been placed under isolation at the facility in Velidhu Island Resort.
Thus far, 13 have tested positive to the fatal virus, seven women and six men, all foreigners from outlying resorts. Three out of the 13 have since recovered.
Authorities recently declared that all arrivals will be quarantined for a period of 14 days at a facility decided by the government, tourists are exempt from this measure.
