Police investigation against him is ongoing: Mabrook
A Maldivian man returning from South Korea was ordered to self-isolate but he was not home when the team of HPA officials arrived.
HPA has announced a fine of MVR 5,000 to be levied on those who violate isolation or quarantine orders

The individual from Villimale' who violated home-isolation orders by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) is currently under isolation at Alif Alif atoll, Velidhoo Isolation Facility, reveals spokesperson for the government's Covid-19 taskforce, Mohamed Mabrook Aziz.

In response to RaajjeMV at Friday night's press briefing, Mabrook stated that a police investigation against the individual is ongoing, adding that he is currently under isolation at the facility established at Alif Alif atoll, Velidhoo Isolation Facility.

A Maldivian man returning from South Korea - where travel restrictions have been placed on two regions - had been ordered to self-isolate in his home at the capital city’s suburban island Villimalé after developing Covid-19 like symptoms upon his return to the country. It has since been revealed that he violated the self-isolation orders as he was not home when the team of HPA officials arrived.

Highlighting that there are two sides to every story, Mabrook emphasised that authorities had never claimed that he had attempted to flee.

Following this incident, the HPA announced a fine of MVR 5,000 to be levied on those who violate isolation or quarantine orders and has stated that their identities will be publicly disclosed.

While all Maldivians returning to the country from abroad have been asked to home-isolate for a 14-day period even if they do not have symptoms upon arrival, authorities have urged the public to report all individuals that violate home-isolation orders.
