Covid-19: everyone under home isolation to be released
There are 14 under isolation at Farukolhufushi and 11 at Vilivaru island
Gili Lankanfushi Maldives was placed under monitoring on Monday, after an employee returned from Malaysia
Mathiveri island in Alif Alif atoll has also been placed under monitoring

Authorities have decided to release everyone under home isolation.

Mabrook Aziz, Spokesperson for all things Covid-19, revealed this at a press conference on Monday.

He added that 109 individuals were traced as contact of the Italian tourist who tested positive and reported to the authorities after returning to his homeland.

As for islands currently under monitoring, Gili Lankanfushi Maldives was placed under monitoring on Monday, after an employee, a Maldivian, returned from Malaysia. The individual has been placed under home-isolation and the resort is under monitoring currently while samples have been taken for questioning.

In addition, samples are also being taken from a second Maldivian national who returned from Spain and developed Covid-19 like symptoms upon return. The individual has been transferred to Farukolhufushi Isolation Facility, for tests and monitoring, said Mabrook.

Mathiveri island in Alif Alif atoll has also been placed under monitoring.

Up until Monday, there have been 13 confirmed cases in the country, five from Kuredu Island Resort where the first two cases emerged on 7 March and two each from Sandies Bathala Maldives, Kuramathi, Anantara Dhigu and a safari boat, Island Safari 1.

There are 14 under isolation at Farukolhufushi and 11 at Vilivaru island.

Moreover, two patients who tested positive for the disease are being treated at Dharumavantha Hospital’s 11th floor and two more are being treated at the 16th floor.
