Maldives Police Service (MPS) has begun investigating an arson attack in Rathafandhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll.
Rathafandhoo's football field was scorched on Saturday, revealed police who received the report half past 7pm.
Officers of the MPS, with the joint efforts from the island residents, extinguished the fire at around 8pm, said authorities.
Authorities are yet to identify the culprits behind the torching.
No injuries have been reported in the case and there has not been any damage to property either.
The case is under further investigations.
