The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has confirmed an additional positive case of Covid-19 in the Maldives.
HPA made the announcement via Twitter on Friday, stating that a foreign national from Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort has tested positive for Covid-19.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country up to nine; all foreigners.
Further, 11 individuals are being monitored under isolation following contact tracing.
On Thursday, the state announced that a total of 91 samples have been collected so far. Moreover, over 200,000 individuals have been screened at several entry points into the country thus far and a total of 37 individuals were banned entry into the country and deported.
All nine confirmed cases in the country were discovered from four different resorts; Kuredu Island Resort, Sandies Bathala Maldives, Kuramathi Island Resort and Anantara.
A state of public health emergency was declared on Thursday.
