A Maldivian has been transferred to Farukolhufushi for monitoring and testing after showing symptoms of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) following his return from Malaysia.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) made the reveal late Wednesday via Twitter.
HPA revealed that the Maldivian stayed in the same building as an individual who turned positive to Covid-19 in Malaysia.
After returning, the Maldivian began developing symptoms similar to the fatal infection.
Thus far, there have been 149 confirmed cases in Malaysia, with 20 new cases as of Wednesday. The total of recovered patients from Malaysia include 26.
Currently, there are eight confirmed cases in Maldives, the latest having been discovered on Tuesday night from Kuramathi Island Resort.
The earlier cases were four from Kuredu Island Resort and two from Sandies Bathala Island Resort.
Authorities have confirmed that restrictive measures are being placed and the situation is being monitored closely.
