TC departs to Bangladesh for match against Bashundhara Kings
 
This is the first time two Maldivian teams are competing in the group stages since the AFC Cup format was amended in 2016, allowing South Asian teams to compete in the same group.

TC sports club has departed for Bangladesh to compete against Bashundhara Kings in the AFC Cup group stage.

Speaking to the press before departure, TC’s coach Mohamed Shazil stated that the team is fully prepared for their match against Bashundhara Kings and that the team has vastly improved after attending a recent training camp at Qatar.

The team has been participating in training camps in foreign countries with assistance from the FAM on several occasions, the last one having been in Qatar during February this year.

As the group stage matches of the AFC Cup are to kick-off, two teams from the Maldives are set to compete. This is the first time two Maldivian teams are competing in the group stages since the AFC Cup format was amended in 2016, allowing South Asian teams to compete in the same group.

TC is in Group E along with India’s Chennaiyin FC and Bangladesh’s Bashundhara Kings, Maldives team Maziya Sports and Recreation Club and India’s Super League champions Bengaluru FC.

TC is coming out with a strong squad for the AFC Cup, having gotten some of the strongest players during the transfer market including renowned football star Ali Ashfaq, Ali Shamis, Pakistani goalkeeper Haneef as well as two players from Egypt. Further, Maziya’s Abdulla Haneef, a famous forward from Saint Vincent have also joined the team.

TC's match with Bashundara Kings is set for March 12th.
