Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc (MTCC) has stated that work on Hoarafushi airport will conclude by September this year.
The announcement was made by MTCC's Managing Director, Ahmed Azim - who stated that 50% of work on the airport has already been completed.
Currently, work on the runway is underway, specifically work to lay the aggregate base said Azim.
A portion of the island's beach has been reclaimed for airport construction and MTCC has stated that all reclamation work has been completed.
The MVR198 million project was assigned to MTCC on March 25th 2019 and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the construction on March 31st of that year.
