The Indian Cultural Centre in the Maldives is set to launch an acting workshop on Saturday.

According to the Director at the Indian Cultural Centre Dr Syed Tanveer Nasreen, the workshop - scheduled to be held from the 22nd to 26th of February - will be taught by acting experts from the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi.

Highlighting that the National School of Drama (NSD) is one of the top theatre training institutes in India, Nasreen stated that the university has had many successful and notable alumni including popular actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Irfan Khan, Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher.

She also stated that the workshop will be highly beneficial to those already in the acting industry, however, anyone above the age of 15 is welcome to join the workshop.

Nasreen further stated that at the end of the workshop, participants will not only have improved acting skills but will also learn many aspects of theatre such as how to handle co-stars, props, how to manipulate body movements and facial expressions and improved communication skills.

The response from the public has been overwhelmingly positive, said Nasreen, adding that they expect more people to register before the workshop commences.

The acting workshop is set to be held at the Maldives Media Institute (MMI) from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm and requires an MVR100 registration fee. The workshop is organized by the Indian Cultural Centre in collaboration with the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage, Maldives Media Institute (MMI), Friendship Association of India-Maldives (FAIM) and the Maldives Film Association.
