A vessel of the MNDF Malé Area Coastguard Squadron is currently active in the region.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has urged caution to all sea farers when travelling northward of Giraavaru island in Kaafu atoll as an abandoned vessel is adrift in the region.

MNDF made the reveal on Wednesday, stating that its Coastguard Maritime Rescue Coordination Center received the report of an abandoned vessel adrift near Giraavaru island close to 4pm on Wednesday.

It has been revealed that the vessel is headed west from the region, as such, travelers in the region are advised to be extra vigilant.

RaajjeMV understands that the vessel is registered to a Maldivian company and the boat owner is working to arrange a vessel to tow the boat.

Further, a vessel of the MNDF Malé Area Coastguard Squadron is currently active in the region.
