The Government of India has congratulated the Government of Maldives on the country's return to the Commonwealth of Nations.

In a press statement released by India's Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday, the Indian government extended their felicitations on the Maldives' readmission to the Commonwealth of Nations as its 54th member, adding that the neighboring country has always been a supporter of the Maldives rejoining the Commonwealth and other international platforms.

Further, India reiterated their commitment to close collaboration with Maldives on the goals set by the Commonwealth such as development, democracy and peace.

The neighboring nation further commended the efforts by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration to participate in international organisations like the United Nations and IORA in addition to building the Maldives' presence in the international sphere.

As such, India stated that the nation will continue collaborating with the Maldives to achieve the country's democratic and developmental aspirations.
