Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has revealed that 11 flu patients are currently being treated at its Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
IGMH’s Public Relations and Media Director Ahmed Mausoom confirmed that 11 flu patients are currently being treated at its ICU, including a child. He did not reveal the age of the child.
He revealed that the pregnant patient, who doctors had to perform an emergency caesarian on last week, is still in serious condition, along with her baby.
Mausoom, on Tuesday, said that a number of people have been lining up for doctor’s consultation at the hospitals flu clinic, but that the number has decreased since March 18.
IGMH on Sunday announced that non-critical surgeries will be halted from Monday onward. The hospital said that it expects to return to normal procedures within two weeks.
The IGMH flu clinic was opened on March 11, a few days before the H1N1 outbreak was made public.
On March 13, Health Protection Agency (HPA) announced the rapid spread of the disease, declaring alert level at phase three and closing off schools. Three individuals have succumbed to the disease thus far.
