An MoU regarding the provision of Fire Safety Services has been signed between the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) and Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).

As per the agreement, MNDF will provide fire safety training for MPL staff.

The MoU was signed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Shahid Ali on behalf of MPL, whereas Commandant Colonel Abdulla Ibrahim signed on behalf of MNDF Fire & Rescue Service.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Colonel Abdulla stated that MPL's fire systems and equipment will be inspected under the agreement in addition to joint emergency fire drills.

As such, while highlighting the importance of having a trained fire brigade at every site, MPL's CEO Shahid revealed that the Fire & Rescue team will also assist the company in procuring proper equipment.
