Annual school holidays' night market begins with 150 stalls
The night market will proceed until 10 January
It will be open from 4pm to 11pm every day

With 150 stalls, the annual night market in time for school holidays has begun in capital city Malé.

While the night market’s doors were opened on Friday, it will be open until 10 January, a Friday, revealed the market’s organizer, Sky Light Private Limited.

Featured in the range of stalls are a variety of food items, perfumes, clothing, fabric, household items, kitchen supplies as well as a range of other products at affordable prices.

Stalls will be open for services from 4pm to 11pm every day, revealed Sky Light.

While the night market has commenced in the capital city, the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) recently publicized regulations set for opening up the night market in the capital’s suburbs, Hulhumalé. Said regulations state that the night market shall be held in the suburbs, twice each year and shall be linked to special occasions, decided by the Malé City Council.

Further, the council notes qualifications for submissions. As such, businesses interesting in running stalls at the night market require to be running for two years since registration at the Ministry of Economic Development, and a 100 percent Maldivian business.

The ministry also compiled a set of regulations that must be followed when running fairs, night markets and street markets which states that businesses taking part must be 100 percent Maldivian businesses.
