Over a 100,000 people have participated in the voting process for the ‘Maldives Travel Awards Gala Night’.
Asra Naseem, deputy secretary-general of the event’s organizer Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), said that 41,000 people have voted via text messaging and 59,000 did so online.
Naseem said that this an unprecedented amount of public participation for any of MATATO’s events, which has made the ‘Maldives Travel Awards’ a major part of its identity as well as that of the local tourism sector.
MATATO will be presenting its ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ as well as awards for 27 other categories. The Gala Night has 230 nominated hoteliers and operators in the tourism sector thus far.
The Gala Night is to be held on 23rd November, at the Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi.
