The Ministry of Education has announced that the academic holidays normally scheduled for a long period at the end of the year will be split into two periods over the year.
According to the press release by the ministry, school holidays, previously scheduled for December and January, is an important period to spend time with family.
The ministry stated that due to the fact that the academic holidays coincide with the country's peak season for tourism, parents that work in the industry face challenges in joining their families for vacation.
Therefore, in order to facilitate vacation time for as many families as possible, the ministry has decided to split school holidays over the year.
As such, school holidays for next year are scheduled for 31st May - 11th June and 6th December - 7th January.
The ministry also adds that they hope that these changes may also ease the difficulties of parents from other industries and offices.
