A 27-year-old man has been arrested and remanded in connection to a break-in, in Maafushi island of Kaafu atoll.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the break-in was reported to them close to 4am on Tuesday and that robbers took 14 cartons of cigarette after breaking the glass panes of the shop.
While officers found blood on the floors covered in shattered glass, as well as on the door, the 27-year-old was brought into police custody at 4:15am, just 15 minutes following the robbery report.
Officers also confiscated the cigarette cartons that were stolen.
The man was remanded by 15 days by the Magistrate Court in Huraa island.
Police is investigating the case.

Police records have shown that cases of theft and robbery are expected to rise during this time every year as it is in time for school holidays when individuals will travel out of the capital city, leaving their homes unattended.
