Club Green Street has secured an effortless win against United Victory during Saturday’s match of the ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi League.
While the match was held in Galolhu Stadium of capital city Malé on Saturday, Green won the match 5 – 0.
Green team showed an excellent performance even at the start of the match, having directed several attacks to UV’s players. They took the lead at the third minute of the game, having secured its first goal through a penalty.
Football star and captain of the team, Ali Ashfaq scored the first goal for Green Streets.
The second goal was an “own goal” by UV players at the 14th minute of the match, followed by the third goal at the 17th minute by captain Ashfaq.
While Green players scored all five goals within the first half of the match, the fourth goal was scored by midfielder Mohamed Umair at the 26th minute followed by the fifth goal at the 39th minute by Riham Abdul Ghanee.
Both teams showed competitive play during the second half of the match, although Green got several chances to score, UV’s goal keeper blocked every shot.
Green Street’s captain Ashfaq was selected as the man of the match.
After a brief hiatus of two months, the Dhiraagu Dhivehi League began on 16th December. Green Street and Maziya Sports and Recreation Club went head-to-head in the first match.
While the league was discontinued for several reasons throughout this year, some of them include the National Football Team preparing for the World Cup Qualifications, AFC Asian Cup Joint Qualification and the recently held South Asian Games.
Maziya had a major lead when the league began, having secured the top spot in the table with 29 points out of the first 12 matches. Club Eagles comes second with 21 points and Green Street at its tail with 20 points.
TC Sports is in the fourth spot of the table with 16 points.
