The Ministry of Planning and Infrastructure has tasked a company with the design and Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) of coastal protection in two islands.

During a ceremony at the ministry building on Monday, companies Development Collaborative Partnership Private Limited, JV Water Solutions Private Limited was tasked with preparing design and EIA for coastal protection projects in Gemanafushi island of Gaaf Alif atoll and Rathafandhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll.

The ministry’s Director General Fathmath Shana Farooq signed on behalf of the ministry while Engineer Abdulla Naushad signed on behalf of the contracted company.

Community consultation work is also tasked under the contract, along with preparing the EIA and design.

The work was contracted for a total of MVR 507,104 and is required to be completed within the span of 18 weeks.
