VP attends UAE's National Day event

Vice President Faisal Naseem has attended a special ceremony held on the occasion of the 48th National Day of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Vice President attended as the chief guest of the ceremony, held on Monday night at Dharubaaruge.
During the event, the Ambassador of UAE to the Maldives, Dr. Saeed Mohamed Al Shamsi, gifted a commemorative plaque on behalf of the Embassy of UAE to the Vice President.
One of the highlights of the event included a short film about the history of the UAE.
Moreover, the Ambassador of UAE to the Maldives, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, gave speeches touching on the strong bilateral relations between the two countries.
Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and former President, and incumbent Speaker, Mohamed Nasheed were also in attendance at this function.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were initiated on 15 March 1978.
