The Ministry of Finance has announced a list of 19 state-owned enterprises (SOE's) assigned for dissolution.

As such, the list titled "Companies in Liquidation" is comprised of SOE's established during Former President Nasheed administration as well as Former President Yameen's administration.

According to the list, 16 SOE's were finalized for liquidation in 2016, with one SOE finalized in 2017 and 2 SOE's finalized in 2018.

These SOEs include Maldives National Broadcasting Corporation Limited (MNBC), Felivaru Fisheries Maldives Limited, Koodoo Fisheries Maldives Limited and Gan Airport Company Limited.

Additionally, it also lists Works Corporation Limited, Maldives Road Development Corporation Limited (MRDC), and several Health Services Corporations.

Speaking at the meeting for the Budget Committee, Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer had stated that only 11 out of 33 SOE's have been profitable for the government.

As such, a number of efforts are being carried out to fortify the operation of SOE's in the country, said the minister.
