Tourism promotion in 2019 exceeds past three years, says MMPRC

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has stated that activities conducted to promote tourism in the Maldives in 2019 has significantly increased in comparison to tourism promotion in the past three years.

While speaking on RaajjeTV's "Fala Suruhee" programme on Sunday, MMPRC’s Managing Director, Thoyyib Mohamed stated that the institution gave priority to repairing the tarnished reputation of the state following the MMPRC graft by the previous administration.

According to Thoyyib, tourism promotion in 2019 has significantly exceeded tourism promotion in the past three years. Likewise, he claimed that regulations and procedures were prioritized in carrying out these activities despite challenges put forward by the office and its employees.

Thoyyib elaborated on the institution's activities over the past year, stated that "Visit Maldives" was conducted in international fairs and on digital platforms in addition to conducting a number of roadshows and fam trips (a.k.a Familiarization Trip) as well as campaigns in partnership world-famous airlines.

Thoyyib also stated that MMPRC will fully support and encourage any party that promotes tourism or advertises the Maldives.

As such, the ministry of tourism has held a variety of events and activities to promote the Maldives on a global scale on the occasion of World Tourism Day. Maldives also reached its 1.5 millionth tourist arrival milestone on Sunday.
