Maldives Customs Service has caught an individual attempting to smuggle a large amount of amphetamine, party drugs into Maldives.

A total of 2,339 pills of the illegal drug were found on the 28-year-old man who arrived from Bangladesh on 6 November.

The pills were found after customs officials inspected his luggage, and they had turned positive to amphetamine.

The pills have street value of MVR 230,900, revealed customs.

The 28-year-old man and the drugs have since been handed over to the Maldives Police Service (MPS).
