Aishath Fareedha has been appointed to the National Pay Commission.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the appointment on Thursday.

With the addition of Fareedha, the Commission now has five members; President, Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer and members Maryam Niyaf Mohamed, Afaaf Ibrahim Ali Didi and Fathmath Shaana Farooq.

While the members of the Commission are appointed to serve for a term of five years, Fareedha was appointed following the resignation of Abdulla Ali.

In accordance with the National Pay Policy Act, the National Pay Commission shall determine the salary and benefits of public servants, bonuses to generate productivity and benefits given in resignation from or termination of employment or tenure of membership.

The Commission last month announced plans to revise the current pay structure, and assured that it will be introduced next year.
