Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested a 23-year-old man for attempting a snatch-and-run in capital city Malé on Friday.
Officers patrolling Fareedhee Magu on Friday had stopped a man who snatched a phone from a Bangladeshi security guard at a shop.
The man has since been taken under police custody.
The phone he had attempted to steal has been handed over to its owner, revealed police.
Investigations have been launched into the case.
