A 40-year-old woman has died following a road accident in Kendhikulhudhoo island of Noonu atoll.

A member of the Island Council, Ali Shameem confirmed the death to RaajjeMV.

Shameem revealed that the woman was identified as 40-year-old Shamsiyya Yoosuf died after skidding down the road while speeding.

According to reports, she crashed near the island's health center, close to 6pm on Thursday.

While she was rushed for treatment immediately, she succumbed to injuries attained due to the crash, at around to 8pm.

Reports indicate that she suffered grave injuries to the head in the accident.

Shamsiyya leaves behind two children, aged six and 10 years respectively, and a husband.
