Important to abide by safety precautions while supplying fuel: VP Naseem

VP Naseem instructed the companies to regulate their operations to meet with specific safety procedures

Vice President Faisal Naseem has discussed the importance of abiding by safety precautions while supplying fuel, with local fuel supplying companies.

The meeting with fuel suppliers took place at the President’s Office on Tuesday morning.

Representatives and management from fuel supplying companies from capital city Malé region, State Trading Organization (STO), Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM) and Ports Authority joined the meeting, where they updated VP Naseem on the process of fuel storage, delivery as well as daily operations in refueling vessels docked at Malé ports.

VP Naseem instructed the companies to regulate their operations to meet with specific safety procedures.

During the meeting, suppliers highlighted the efforts they could exert into regulating their daily operations.

The government plans to fan out industrial activities from residential areas which include different arrangements made for storage of fuel, and refueling, said the Vice President.

Further, he added that the administration will be incorporating a monitoring mechanism to ensure fuel services is regulated.
