Service more important than position: Niyaz

Ali Niyaz, who is contesting for Deputy Chairperson - Administration, of opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), says that service is more important than position.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s 60-Minute program, Niyaz said he was certain that he can win the position, but saw that serving the Party as the Deputy Chair was a priority. He thanked the Party members and members of National Congress for their support.

Niyaz added that his first priority was preparing for the 2018 Presidential elections.

Niyaz stressed that MDP will broaden their work within the opposition movement as well as compiling the Party’s manifesto for the 2018 elections. He further stressed that Nasheed’s candidature in the 2018 elections was also a priority.

Niyaz had previously served as Deputy Chairperson - Finance.

All members listed as members with the party by June 13th have the right to vote in the internal elections.
