RaajjeTV to host telethon to help families affected by fire
 
Donations collected through the telethon will be handed over to the Maldives Red Crescent

Raajje Television is set to host a 24-hour telethon to assist those affected by the tragic fire that broke out in Henveiru-ward of capital city Malé.

The station’s Executive Director Naazmee Saeed revealed that the initiative was approved with the purpose to assist all the families affected by the fire that broke out on Friday evening on Abadhah Fehi Magu.

The telethon is set to begin at 9pm on Saturday and is set to proceed for 24-hours with short breaks in between for Majlis sittings.

Those who wish to make donations may do so through online bank transfers and through a fund box. The fund box will be placed outside the station’s office and individuals and companies may make their contributions starting 9pm. RaajjeTV will be giving the donations collected through this telethon to Maldives Red Crescent.

The fire reported on Friday evening, destroyed several homes in Henveiru ward of the capital and was extinguished after hours, late Friday night.

Several people were rushed to local hospitals over smoke inhalation, and a woman trapped inside her apartment was found dead after the fire was extinguished. National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has since revealed that over 400 individuals have been assisted.
