Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the government’s work is lagging behind the parliament.

The parliament speaker and leader of ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) said this in response to a question at an event held in his constituency on Friday.

Responding to a question on whether the work of the government can be comparable to the parliament, Nasheed said that he has observed a “time lag” in the inner workings of the government but that it is typical for any new government.

Nasheed said that he believes the government will strengthen their plans and will catch up to parliament once all the government entities begin working together. He also said that he expects the government’s work to speed up in the coming months.

Regarding his work, Nasheed said that he will keep meeting his constituents and continue to find solutions to their concerns.
