Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam is the member with the lowest attendance in the first session of the 19th parliament.
According to the statistics released on Tuesday, MP Siyam attended only 16 of the 47 sittings.
The first session of the 19th parliament had better attendance than the previous parliament, with no sitting being adjourned due to lack of quorum.
Ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) won super-majority in the last parliament election. All MDP members had attended almost all the sittings, except when they were on official trips.
37 MPs achieved perfect attendance, including Speaker Mohamed Nasheed and Deputy Speaker Eva Abdulla.
Out of the Parliamentary Group (PG) leaders, MDP PG leader Ali Azim attended all the sittings while Jumhooree Party (JP)’s PG leader Qasim Ibrahim had missed five sittings and excused himself from four sittings. PPM PG leader Ahmed Saleem missed nine sittings but PNC PG leader Adam Shareef Umar attended all sittings.
