Home Minister Imran Abdulla has said that he will guarantee that the police service will take action based on the presidential commission’s investigation on the kidnapping and murder of journalist Ahmed Rilwan.
In a tweet on Saturday, the Home Minister said that Rilwan’s case is being investigated by the presidential commission on deaths and disappearances and that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will compel state authorities to take action based on the findings.
Minister Imran assured that the police service will also take the necessary action based on the commission’s investigation.
In an earlier tweet, Speaker and former President Mohamed Nasheed expressed concern that some police officers have made statements that decrease the trust in the police service, highlighting that officers had tapped into Rilwan’s phone and monitored him after unlawfully obtaining a court order.
