An AirAsia flight that departed from Maldives on Thursday night has had to take an emergency landing following a fire that broke out inside the craft minutes after take-off.

While the flight emergency-landed back at Velana International Airport (VIA) safely, RaajjeMV understands that everyone onboard at the time were in good condition and no injuries were reported.

Eye witnesses and some posts on social media state that the flight was seen ablaze in the sky after eye witnesses reportedly heard a "loud bang".

RaajjeMV also understands that the flight was en route to Bangkok, Thailand from Maldives.
