Details of their discussion were not disclosed

Home Minister Imran Abdulla and Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed have visited the family of Ahmed Rilwan.

Assistant Police Commissioner Mohamed Riyaz accompanied them during the visit on Wednesday.

While the details of their discussions were not disclosed, the police service tweeted that Commissioner Hameed has formally requested the parliament to arrange a meeting with its Committee on Security Services regarding the presidential commission’s findings into cases of deaths and disappearances.

Journalist Ahmed Rilwan was last seen purchasing a ticket at the ferry terminal in Malé on August 8th, 2014.

At the latest press briefing, Husnu Suood, the head of the commission on deaths and disappearances, confirmed that Rilwan was kidnapped and killed by a group of religious extremists.

He said that former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb and two police officers were involved in the coverup of his murder, and that they are working with the Prosecutor General on charging them.

Immigration has stated that the passports of 14 people have been withheld over the case.
