Former President and current Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed has travelled to Ukulhas, Alif Alif atoll on Tuesday.
Nasheed arrived in the island on Tuesday evening via seaplane, and received a warm welcome from the island community.
The speaker is set to participate in the “Tech Fair 2019”, which was inaugurated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid on Monday.
He is scheduled to take a tour of the stalls in the fair and meet with participants of the 13th International Conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management and Applications “SKIMA 2019”.
The ex-president also initiated a tree plantation program in the island on Tuesday, under which professors and scientists who arrived in the island for the tech fair will also plant trees.
Nasheed is someone who has always been behind such initiatives, empowering individuals across the nation to initiate such projects nationwide.
