Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed says that with the conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement with China, local businesses, especially fisheries sector businesses, will gain the most benefits.
Delivering the opening remarks at the last round of FTA discussions in Bandos Island Resort, Minister Saeed said that this was a partnership between one of the biggest nations in the world and one of the smallest nations.
The last round of discussions will be concluded Thursday evening.
Economic Ministry informs that as per the current discussions, China will not tax Maldivian exports of fish and seafood.
Minister Saeed previously said that the FTA will be signed next June. Maldives is currently engaged in free trade discussions with UK and Japan.
