Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to request the parliament to impeach Justice Abdulla Didi.
In a press statement, JSC stated that they decided to submit the request since they find no reason to change their investigative report.
JSC had given Justice Didi 30 days to respond to its report. While Didi responded via letter, JSC found not reason to make any changes based on Didi’s statement.
At the sitting on Tuesday morning, speaker Mohamed Nasheed said that JSC’s request has been scheduled for later in the evening.
Didi has been accused of accepting a one million US dollar bribe in 2015 to sentence former President Mohamed Nasheed to 13 years in prison. He has also been accused of using his position as a top court judge to gain undue influence over others.
