The government is now accepting applications for the 1,500 housing units to be built in Addu City.
Addu City Council stated that the project is part of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s housing pledge.
As part of the pledge, the government plans to build 20,000 housing units in the atolls.
The purpose of the project is to solve the problem of undeveloped houses and to allow families with land but no financial means to develop houses to receive housing.
The project to develop the 1,500 housing units in Addu City will be split into different regions, with 712 housing units to be built in Hithadhoo, 164 in Maradhoo, 81 in Maradhoo-Feydhoo, 247 in Feydhoo, 165 in Hulhudhoo, and 131 in Meedhoo.
