Maldives president departs to Seychelles on official visit
The president is traveling to the East African island nation on the invitation of its president
First Couple departs to Seychelles
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih departed to Seychelles on Thursday morning.
The president is traveling to the East African island nation on the invitation of its President, Danny Faure.
Both leaders are to discuss on ways to enhance bilateral relations between the countries.
First Lady Fazna Ahmed and a senior government delegation are accompanying the president on the trip.
Earlier this month, a high-level government delegation comprising of Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof were in Seychelles, as part of their tour of the Indian Ocean islands- to garner support for Maldives’ bid to the host the next edition of the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG).
During this trip, President Faure assured his support for the country; Maldives ultimately won the bid.
President Solih was recently in Mauritius, for the opening ceremony of IOIG 2019.
