A 19-year-old police officer has died during a training session carried out on Thursday.

Media official at the Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they received the report of the incident that took place during a training session in Vaanee, Dhaalu atoll on Thursday afternoon and that the training was carried out at sea.

Police further revealed that a team of their professional standards command has begun investigations to seek out the cause of the incident that took the life of the young officer.

The session was carried out as part of the 31st “Police Recruit Training Course” that is ongoing. Expert police officials are taking part in the training program, which includes running, swimming and many such physical activities.
