Parliament’s judiciary committee has rescheduled its meeting with Prosecutor General Aishath Bisham.
While the committee was initially set to question the PG on Tuesday, they decided to postpone the meeting after she informed them of a scheduled official visit abroad.
At last week’s committee meeting, Fonadhoo constituency MP Moosa Siraj noted the various unlawful activities conducted since Bisham’s appointment and proposed to summon her for questioning.
As such, committee members are to question her on the delay in concluding trials, why so many figures were charged with terrorism against the law and why 12 lawmakers were charged for entering the parliament premises. They are also to question her regarding an agreement signed with China’s Prosecutor General's Office in 2017, to train Maldivian officials.
PG Bisham is to conclude her trip and return to Maldives on Saturday.
She was appointed to the post by former President Abdulla Yameen, on 24th November 2015.
