Hajj Group’s work had been conducted at the Family Court building, says suspended Family Court’s Chief Judge Hassan Saeed.
At the meeting with the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on Sunday, Judge Saeed said he became aware of it through a RaajjeTV report in January and that an employee was subsequently suspended.
Family Court’s marriage registrar Ahmed Abdulla was suspended over the issue on March 26.
At the JSC meeting, Judge Saeed said his decision to suspend the registrar was to stop corruption in the Family Court, adding that he has always worked to increase public trust in the court.
He also claimed he had personally investigated the case because other investigators were also benefiting from corruption.
JSC questioned Judge Saeed on whether he had summoned registrar Ahmed to the conference room on February 28, and then verbally abused and threw a plastic file at him. Saeed said he always speaks politely and that he had handed over the plastic file to the registrar.
The registrar was dismissed after the Family Court submitted his case to the Judicial Administration.
In a 2016 case, registrar Ahmed had testified against Judge Saeed, which had resulted in the judge’s suspension.
