Home Minister Imran Abdulla has met the European Union (EU)’s Counter-Terrorism Coordinator Gilles de Kerchove.
The meeting was held on Sunday with the participation of Ambassador of EU to Maldives, Tung-Lai Margue.
The EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator also met with Speaker, former President Mohamed Nasheed in the parliament building.

He is expected to have more ministerial-level meetings as well as hold discussions with security officials.
Coordinator Kerchove is visiting Maldives and Sri Lanka to show support for the two countries in their respective efforts to step up security and develop exchange of experiences.
Kerchove has been the EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator since 2007. He also teaches European Law at various universities and has published a number of articles and books on European law, human rights, security and counter-terrorism.
