Non-Resident Ambassadors
Parliament endorses 11 non-resident ambassadors
Six of the nominees received 76 votes, while the remaining five received 75

Parliament has on Wednesday approved to appoint 11 non-resident ambassador nominations forwarded by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

While the names were forwarded to the parliament’s committee on national security and foreign relations for further review, its final report were submitted to the floor today, where 77 members were in attendance.

Six of the nominees received 76 votes, while the remaining five received 75.

The 11 appointees are;

  1. Maldives Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Omar Abdul Razzaq as Non-Resident Ambassador to Seychelles. Mauritius and Kazakhstan,
  2. Maldives Ambassador to India, Aishath Mohamed Didi as Non-Resident Ambassador to Afghanistan and Bhutan,
  3. Maldives Ambassador to Sri Lanka Visam Ali as Non-Resident Ambassador to Brunei and Indonesia,
  4. Maldives Ambassador to Singapore, Dr. Abdul Mausoom as Non-Resident Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand,
  5. Maldives Ambassador to Japan, Ibrahim Uwais as Non-Resident Ambassador to the Republic of Korea,
  6. Maldives Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Khaleel as Non-Resident Ambassador to Kuwait and Jordan,
  7. Maldives Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Hussain Niyaz as Non-Resident Ambassador to Bahrain and Oman,
  8. Maldives Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Dr. Farahanaz Faisal as Non-Resident Ambassador to Ireland, France and Spain,
  9. Maldives Ambassador to Germany, Ahmed Latheef as Non-Resident Ambassador to Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Russia,
  10. Maldives Ambassador to the European Union and Belgium, Hassan Sabir as Non-Resident Ambassador to Netherlands and Luxemburg, and
  11. Maldives Ambassador to the United Nation and the United States of America, Thilmeeza Hussain as Non-Resident Ambassador to Canada.
