The government will never take unjust action against an officer, says Home Minister Imran Abdulla.

Minister Imran said this on Twitter on Tuesday regarding the investigation against police officers for beating a civilian.

In the tweet, Minister Imran said the government will never tolerate torture or injustice but that government will also never take unjust action against an officer.

Minister Imran also praised Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed for taking action within 30 minutes of receiving news of the incident by reporting to the relevant authorities and informing the public.

He said transparency is key to their approach to governance and request both police officers and the public to refrain from speculations while the investigations are ongoing.

A video of officers assaulting civilians during a search operation was uploaded on social media last week.

A special team from the police service is now investigating seven officers for violating their code of ethics and conduct.
