Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has requested a court order to summon Shaayan Shahid, the former deputy managing director of Public Service Media (PSM).

ACC made the request in their investigation over a major case of corruption involving PSM, which was filed by the current management of the state media.

At a state enterprises committee meeting, ACC stated that the former PSM board member has repeatedly ignored their summons.

ACC requested the court order to summon Shaayan and obtain her statement for the investigation.

Shaayan has said that she is not in hiding and that she will answer the summons upon request and cooperate in the investigation.

Speaking to news outlet Avas, she said that ACC last called her in April and has not requested her presence, and added that she is willing to answer any question from state authorities.

It has been five months since the ACC received cases regarding corrupt PSM projects initiated during former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration. PSM stated that it has provided ACC with the means to obtain the relevant documents, computer hard disks, and e-mail correspondences.

While Yameen’s government had been repeatedly accused of being involved in numerous cases of corruption, the ACC refused to investigate until the end of Yameen’s term.
