Mabrouq Azeez has been appointed to a political position at the President’s Office.

Mabrouq has been appointed Communications Undersecretary at the level of deputy minister.

He is a senior member of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) who ran for the Felidhoo seat on the party’s ticket. People’s National Congress (PNC) candidate Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed won the seat with a 54-vote difference.

At Thursday’s press conference, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said his government has created 334 political positions while former President Abdulla Yameen had 465, and added that he will not allow the political positions to increase more than the previous government.
