Sri Lanka’s former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is currently in the Maldives.
While the former president and current opposition leader arrived in the Maldives on Monday, RaajjeMV understands that this is a “private trip.”
He is to conclude the trip and travel back to Sri Lanka on Thursday night.
According to local media ‘Mihaaru’, the former president arrived in the Maldives on the invitation of business magnate Mohamed “Champa” Moosa.
He is to be holidaying in Kudadoo Maldives; Crown and Champa Resorts’ latest project.
Moosa called on the Sri Lankan former president during a trip to Colombo in June.
At the meeting, Moosa condemned the attack that killed hundreds, and discussed on ways to assist in boosting the country’s economy.
Prior to this, Rajapaksa’s son, MP Namal was in the Maldives on an official visit and met with a number of government officials.
