The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has on Monday cancelled the announcement seeking judges to the Criminal and Civil Courts.

While the announcement seeking judges to Civil Court was made on 22 May, the deadline was set at 13 June.

In addition, JSC decided to add two more seats to the Criminal Court judges’ bench at last week's meeting, following a request from the Supreme Court. Interested individuals were asked to apply by 1pm on 11 July.

While there have been applications, JSC’s Director Hassan Zaheen revealed the decision to cancel the announcement 'for further review.'

Noting that sub-committee reviewing the matter has noticed some issues, Zaheen said that there are some administrative procedures to be completed.

He further stated that although they have cancelled the announcement for now, that they will be making a new announcement "after looking into it."
