Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested an individual for illicit alcohol and drug trafficking.
While officers also confiscated a hefty number of drugs and alcohol during the crack down, officers patrolling the streets in the capital city had arrested the man following suspicious behavior on Thursday afternoon.
Officers had asked the man to stop upon suspicious behavior, but the man is to have continued walking into an uninhabited house in Henveiru-ward of Malé. Officers had followed him and brought him under their custody.
After a raid was conducted, police confiscated 11 full bottles of alcohol, 15 empty alcohol bottles, 17 packets and 13 pieces of cellophane suspected to contain drugs.
The Drug Enforcement Department has since taken on investigations into the case.
